Despite frequent reports that the production of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania was plagued by last-minute rewrites and excessive reshooting, Kathryn Newton has nothing but good things to say about her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Newton assumed the role of Cassie Lang in the third Ant-Man film, arriving in the MCU during a tumultuous time in the franchise’s history.

While the film managed to gross $476.1 million at the box office, Quantumania received tepid reviews and would later be viewed as a tipping point in the MCU.
‘Quantumania’s’ Production Was Rushed
Following the film’s disappointing release, much attention would be paid to the rushed production of Quantumania, with Kathy O’Brian, who played Jentorra in the film, later calling the production “chaotic.”
“Yeah, that was absolutely chaotic,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “I think we were getting new pages until the last day. And I think I was getting new fights the last day. I just show up, and they’re like, here’s a new fight.”

Interestingly, in a recent interview with Cinepop, Kathryn Newton revealed that she had a much harder shoot with her new horror-comedy, Abigail, than she did in Quantumania. When asked what the easier production was, she had this to say:
“I think the Marvel movie, actually. But I don’t know… This was, physically, actually harder than Ant-Man.”
Still, when it comes to the two productions, there was one aspect that Newton enjoyed more about Abigail.

“Ant-Man was the easiest job of my life. It was really fun…And this one was just as fun, but it was different. We had a real set, we had real props, real people. So whatever inspiration you get is from what’s happening right in front of you, and I didn’t have to make it up; There was no green screen. And that was much more freeing than I was prepared for,” she explained.
Will Newton Return?
While the poor reception to Quantumania likely means we will not be getting an Ant-Man 4, it looks like Newton’s Cassie Lang will return in an adaptation of the Young Avengers.

If nothing else, however, it’s good to hear that the young actress has not soured on Marvel.
