With the X-Men set to enter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a big way in the next few years, speculation about which characters will appear, and who will portray them, has continued to run rampant.
After it was announced that Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, Kelsey Grammer appeared in the end credits scene of The Marvels. The addition of the two X-Men veterans to the MCU has led many to wonder if we will see other familiar faces reprise their roles.
Alexandra Shipp is Not Returning
One actress who we can definitely cross off the list of potential returning X-Men is Alexandra Shipp, who portrayed Storm in 2016’s X-Men Apocalypse.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Shipp made it clear that she was not interested in the role.
“You know, what’s kind of funny is no. Yeah. I’m not interested [in returning],” she said.
“The thing is, what I love about the career that I’ve been able to form is that I can play many different things and at this point, I feel like I’ve done what I needed to do with Storm and I think that there are other women who could take on that role and really kill it and I support that. But for me, I just feel like I’m at a different place in my life.”
Will We See Other Familiar Faces Return?
While it sounds like Shipp is out of the running for an MCU debut, we will likely see more familiar faces returning in the future.
With Jackman set to return for Deadpool 3, Patrick Stewart may fall back into his role as Professor Charles Xavier.
Hopefully, we will see the X-Men join the MCU sooner rather than later.
