Andrew Garfield Reiterates His Love of Spider-Man, Talks ‘No Way Home’

While The Amazing Spider-Man may have been the least successful of the webslinger film series, there is no doubt that Andrew Garfield has a deep appreciation for the Spider-Man character.

Garfield’s love of Peter Parker and the responsibility that he felt in taking the mantle of Spider-Man is part of what made his triumphant return in Spider-Man: No Way Home so special.

Finally, after dealing with sub-par material in his own series, Garfield was able to flex his Spider-Man chops.

Depending on who you ask, Garfield’s Spider-Man journey may or may not be over. Outside of a possible Amazing Spider-Man revival, rumors continue to circulate that Maguire and Garfield could reprise their roles in Avengers: Homecoming.

Garfield Talks Becoming Spider-Man

In a recent interview at the Red Sea Film Festival on Thursday, Garfield once again expressed his love of Spider-Man and the responsibility that he felt in playing the character.

“I’ve loved Spider-Man since I was three years old,” Garfield said, recalling how he wore a Spider-Man costume when he was three years old for Halloween. “I was in the gym a lot. I ate soup and berries. And I trained at Parkour and yoga. I helped with the script. I need to nourish that child who is out there watching.”

Needless to say, Garfield’s admiration of Spider-Man and his desire to represent the character well, have endeared him to Marvel fans.

Teaming Up With Holland and Macguire

For Spider-Man: No Way Home, the actor didn’t have to carry the burden alone, as he was able to share the mantle with Macguire and Tom Holland. So, what was it like teaming up?

“I think until all three of us were in the room rehearsing, figuring out what we were going to do, there was no way of writing it. Every single one of us had our own version of that character and we didn’t know how they were going to interact, until they were actually interacting in the room together. So it was as if you were making a low-budget short film with friends. And it was the biggest movie in the history of movies.”

The chemistry between the three Spider-Men was undeniable, and Garfield and Maguire proved they may have more stories to tell.

Hopefully, we have not seen Andrew Garfield don the red mask for the final time.
